Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) has its roots in the work of osteopathic physician Dr. William Sutherland (D.O.); the biodynamic approach to craniosacral therapy was later developed by osteopath Franklyn Sills (D.O.) and others. BCST is a subtle, non-invasive, non-manipulative whole-body therapy where a practitioner uses their neutral, witnessing presence and a light, perceptive touch to support your body to heal itself. This therapy works directly with the body’s mental, psycho-emotional and physiological systems.
When our health is compromised, there are changes within the body’s natural rhythmic movements; with BCST, the experienced practitioner recognises and listens to these patterns of motion through a light touch of their hands, from anywhere on the client’s (fully-clothed) body. The practitioner’s neutral, witnessing presence and light touch assist your body to move into ‘rest and repair’ mode by engaging your body’s parasympathetic nervous system – also known as the ‘rest and repair’ arm of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), empowering your whole being to move towards health.
A BCST treatment works with the intelligent creative energies that create and maintain health in your system, helping your body to safely and gently follow the instructions given by its own innate healing intelligence to release emotional/physical trauma patterns, stress and nervous system tension. The treatment follows your own body’s inherent treatment plan (is led by your system), supporting your body to spontaneously re-organise those areas which are out of balance by integrating held patterns within the tissues. This natural process enables deep, holistic/holographically orchestrated healing and an increase in an overall sense of relaxation, vitality and wellness to occur.
